SIA Special Interest Area Badges
The Special Interest New Program Badges are achieved in each youth section from Joey Scouts through to Rover Scouts. There are six areas that are relevant to all sections. These are:
- Adventure and Sport
- Arts and Literature
- Creating a Better World
- Environment
- Growth and Development
- STEM and Innovation
Whilst the centre of the badge design remains consistent across all sections due to the same areas existing in all sections, the requirements to achieve the badge increases in difficulty as you progress through the sections.
- Joey Scout Special Interest Areas should take approximately 2 hours per badge
- Cub Scout Special Interest Areas should take approximately 4 hours per badge
- Scout Special Interest Areas should take approximately 8 hours per badge
- Venturer Scout Special Interest Areas should take approximately 12 hours per badge
- Rover Scout Special Interest Areas should take approximately 18 hours per badge
If members are looking to complete their Peak Award, then they require at least six Special Interest Area badges, earned in:
- At least two areas for Joey Scouts and Cub Scouts
- At least three areas for Scouts and Venturer Scouts
- At least four areas for Rover Scouts
These badges are only worn on the uniform of the section in which the badge was earned.
